‘What did I come here looking to find?’
By Åsa Nilsson | Nov 1, 2024
🎉 Anniversary Episode!
Two years ago, Komeil and I began this podcasting journey, unsure of where it would take us. I certainly didn’t expect to discover Swedish Death Cleaning or my passion for helping people open up about both life and death. I never imagined meeting so many incredible guests who would share their hearts, passions, sadness, and truths with us.
I feel incredibly lucky, blessed, and humbled by this experience. Looking to the future feels both exciting and liberating—though a bit unnerving, too.
Will I continue this podcast monthly? Maybe even weekly? Or perhaps not at all? I’m not sure yet. It all depends on how it fits into my work and life. If it becomes a stressor, it wouldn’t be sustainable, and that’s not the direction I want to take.
Now, I’d love your help. Please share what you gain from this movement and what you take away from listening to these podcasts.
Your voice matters.
Xx,
Åsa
Host: Åsa Nilsson
IN THIS EPISODE I TALK ABOUT:
- Greetings from Houston, Texas.
- KLM Airlines, poor communication, still no baggage after nearly a week. What’s a girl to do?
- 2 year anniversary of the ‘More Moss to the People’ podcast on Nov 11th!!
- Am I still happy with this project I started?
- Creating a podcast takes a good bit of effort. Am I still in love with it?
- I’m paying to talk to you. Why? What’s it all for?
- Thanking all guests from this past season, by name.
- If my guests weren’t my friend before I had them on, they sure are afterwards.
- Discoveries this past year…
- I have the administrative piece down, looking at changing things up a little, be more playful, expansive, not restrictive.
- Swedish Death Cleaning is my jam. I love it.
- I really have no idea what I’m doing. What’s going to happen? Who knows!?
- Retired Thomas out of his job where his health was taking a toll. That was huge and a big step. Bold and FUN!
- Started collaborating with more partners. Don’t need to do all of this myself. Repurposing content. Highlighting certain previous episodes again, why not?
- How do I want to market the ‘More Moss to the People’ brand? The podcast was always the umbrella and my paid work was underneath that. Now I want Swedish Death Cleaning and Decluttering to be the umbrella and the podcast to be underneath.
- Downloads, where are my listeners located. Getting feedback, THANK YOU.
- Learning more about myself. This is not meant to be a stressor. Is it? Looking at this and being honest with myself and you.
- What did I come here looking to find?
- Looking for feedback. What do YOU get out of these episodes? This movement? Do share, it can make a difference.

One Response
Hi Asa,
Thank you for being part of my healing journey over the last year. The universe gifted you to me as I was picking up the pieces of a previous life chapter where I lost myself. I lived in crisis for two years trying to help a spouse who was hiding an addiction and at the end I finally realized the magnitude of gaslighting I had experienced. It was wild, I was nearly broken, and I didn’t know who I was anymore. Cleaning up and taking back control of my story, I found you by searching for a decluttering podcast, but I was looking for decluttering tied to real action and words that were deep, meaningful and connected to everyway we operate and show up in the world. You were it! I have loved your enthusiasm, wit, and honesty, and have felt supported and empowered by you and several of the ladies you have interviewed. As a wildlife biologist by training (and now a training developer), I’ve never subscribed to the standard rat race, and feel so much permission and acceptance from your podcast. I’ve grown in my strength and confidence, always in gratitude, and now owning my story and who I’ve become. I think I always had a fear that if I became outwardly stronger and direct I would somehow lose my kindness and warmth. I’ve learned this isn’t true. I can still be warm and gentle, but firm, set and keep boundaries, show up for myself in the best way so I can show up for others, feel confident inside and out, while also being calm, collected, and at peace. It’s quite a journey! Best of all, my young son is now experiencing his mom from a place of true self love where we can share all the moments of wonder, joy, and laughter together that we can possibly muster. Like you said, this isn’t a dress rehearsal. Thank you for all that you’ve done, and the connection and community you’ve brought me. With love and gratitude.
